I am undoubtedly a morning person, and I’m also extremely lucky to live near a park full of trees. This means I wake up very early every morning, listening to the singing of “frenetically happy” birds – as my friend Nora commented on the recording of their singing that I sent her. I need to learn how to upload the recording to the blog so that I can share it with you.
I have no problem with jumping out of bed as soon as the singing stops and now, as summer approaches, they are beginning to sing even earlier… I love to sit by the window while I have my breakfast and watch all the younger people exercising in the park. And, like the birds, now that summer is almost here there are more people exercising and coming out earlier to the park. At this point of my life, my exercise consists of a brisk 30-minute walk which I love. During these walks I take pictures of the trees and flowers and anything else that catches my eye, and everything looks particularly beautiful in the spring. It rained a little bit last night, so this morning the grass and the flowers were covered in tiny droplets that made them look especially beautiful.
After breakfast and while I straighten up the apartment I turn on my music and sing and dance to my heart’s content… this is something I probably do quite badly because when my children were little they would implore me to stop… And my grandson does the same thing, so the problem must definitely be my singing and dancing!!! But, who cares? When no-one can see me or hear me I can sing and dance as much as I want, and this happens to be pretty good exercise as well.
As the day goes on, my energy starts to wane a bit, except for the afternoons I spend with my grandson who can make me laugh with his conversation and his comments, and this revitalizes me to no end!!! But when he’s not here, I have found the absolute joy of naps. Nothing like a 15-minute nap to get me going again, even if I can’t be as productive as I am in the mornings…
We all have our internal biological clocks that tell us if we’re morning or evening people. All we have to do is listen to it, find out when it is that we’re most productive and make the most of it. Enjoy!!!
